YouTube Premium increases the monthly price of its family subscription: an additional $5 which makes the offer much less advantageous for small families.
If you are subscribed to a family package for YouTube-Premium, it is very possible that the price will increase soon. In the United States, affected subscribers have received an email indicating that the monthly cost of the service will increase by $5. An increase that obviously makes you cringe.
YouTube Premium increases the monthly price of its family subscription
Starting in November, US subscribers will start paying $22.99 per month for YouTube Premium, but there seems to be some wiggle room. Indeed, if the main announcement explains that this tariff increase starts at the next invoicing or after November 21, certain long-time subscribers will not undergo this increase for several months. A member of the Engadget team, for example, has been informed that his rate will not increase until April because of his status as a ālongtime valued memberā.
$5 extra which makes the offer much less advantageous for small families
With this new price list, the family offer becomes less attractive for small groups. At the old rate, $17.99, subscribing to this offer was interesting from two users. Now, a family of two users will only earn $1 per month. The monthly rate for a single user remains at $11.99, or $6.99 for students. The benefits haven’t changed either, with Premium still allowing you to enjoy YouTube ad-free, download videos to watch offline, access YouTube Music, and play music and video in the background or with the screen off.
At least you won’t need to subscribe to Premium to watch your videos in 4K. For France, for the time being at least, there is no question of such a price increase on the family subscription. Impossible to know if the French will be concerned or when.
