At CES 2023, Panos Panay figured prominently alongside the president of AMD. Microsoft’s pundit took the opportunity to teaser the future of Windows, assuring that the operating system was going to be fed with artificial intelligence.
While Windows 12 is in the cards, Microsoft intends to make profound changes to its operating system. The Redmond giant notably wants to take the train of artificial intelligence. After replacing employees with AI, Microsoft is now looking to improve the user experience of its flock. A shift mentioned by Panos Panay, product manager at Microsoft, who was present at CES 2023 in Las Vegas.
The leader notably made an appearance during the presentation of AMD. As a reminder, the founder had just unveiled the contours of the AMD 7040 and the AMD 7045. These two processors dedicated to laptops have the particularity of carrying a devilishly powerful artificial intelligence engine. And Microsoft intends to capitalize on this in the future. “AI will reinvent everything you do on Windows, literally,” notably promised Panay.
Windows will be fed with artificial intelligence
The leader, however, did not give many details about it. He suggested that AI will significantly improve video calls similar to what is done on the Surface Pro 9. Background blurring, background noise suppression, lower power consumption… IA is also able to influence gaze management by instantly adjusting the position of the eyes to offer a more natural discussion. Panay also pointed out that natural language models will play an important role in Windows. Other uses of artificial intelligence should be drawn by Microsoft, which will reveal more to us in the coming weeks. In this regard, the company is even preparing to integrate Bing ChatGPT, the AI-based chatbot capable of generating text with precision.
