Complications during the submission and approval process explain the postponement of Football Manager 2023 on PS5.
Available since the beginning of the week on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam/Epic Games/Microsoft Store), Apple Arcade (iPhone/iPad/Mac/Apple TV), iOS and Android, Soccer Manager 2023 was also due to come to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PS5, but various complications during development finalization led to the UK studio Sports Interactive to postpone this release without having a new date to communicate for the moment:
We are deeply sorry for this issue, which we have worked tirelessly to resolve with our partners for several weeks. The decision to postpone Football Manager 2023 on PS5 was particularly difficult, since many talented people at Sports Interactive worked hard for many long months to bring it to life. We will do everything in our power to allow PS5 owners to enjoy the richness of our title as soon as possible.
With major additions and improvements to key areas of the game, Football Manager 2023 elevates the renowned license to new heights. Over 8.8 million matches were played during Beta Early Access. FM23 also saw strong pre-orders and record pre-registrations. Finally, with the absence of a disc and booklet for the physical edition of FM23, as well as improvements on eco-packaging, Sports Interactive has achieved a 47% reduction in the overall carbon footprint of packaging for FM23 compared to that of FM22.
Note that those who pre-ordered the PS5 version of Football Manager 2023 on the PlayStation Store are eligible for a refund, in accordance with the platform’s policy.
