Disney and Lucasfilm are in talks with Shawn Levy to develop and direct a new Star Wars movie.
It is not yet known when this project Star Wars of Shawn Levy (The Internship, Free Guy, The Pink Panther) could see the light of day. This comes at a prolific time for the Canadian director. He is in post-production on the television series All the Light We Cannot See, of which he directed all four episodes. This series is destined for Netflix, where he will also direct at least two episodes of the fifth and final season of the series Stranger Things, which he produces through his production company 21 Laps. Finally, the Deadpool 3 deal comes after Shawn Levy teamed up with Ryan Reynolds on The Adam Project for streaming platform Netflix.

Star Wars movie projects are piling up
This famous film entrusted to Shawn Levy is officially in line with several productions directed by leading directors such as that of Taika Waititi, Rogue Squadron by Patty Jenkins and another by Damon Lindelof which will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Note that Lucasfilm has not released a Star Wars film in theaters since Episode IX of 2019, namely The Rise of Skywalker. On the television front, Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte series recently entered production with a cast including Amandla Stenberg and Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae. A new season of The Mandalorian is also slated for next year, along with Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson.
