Deliveries of iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max impacted by Covid-19
Covid-19 restrictions temporarily impacted the main iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max assembly plant in Zhengzhou, China. The plant is currently operating at a significantly reduced capacity. As we have already done during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are emphasizing the health and safety of employees in our supply chain. We continue to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, we now expect lower iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than we anticipated and customers will experience longer wait times to receive their new products. We are working closely with our suppliers to return to normal production levels while ensuring the health and safety of every worker.
Things to consider as Christmas approaches
A slowdown in shipments was widely expected after the Chinese government ordered a week-long lockdown in the Foxconn factory area. This measure, taken as part of the government’s “Zero Covid” approach, affects the factory which manufactures four of Apple’s five new smartphones. Overall, iPhone production could be cut by 30%, according to multiple reports.
Launched in September, the iPhone 14 represents a relatively minor improvement over the previous model. The main change being the disappearance of support for the SIM card, in the United States only, and the appearance of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. At the time of writing these lines, the delivery of an iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max can reach 4 to 6 weeks.
